Writers Section
From Idea to Screenplay
If you want to learn how to write screenplays, the journey starts here.
On this page, I want to provide resources that complement the book ¿Así que quieres escribir una película?— a book I wrote with great care, gathering all the knowledge I wish I’d had when I first ventured into screenwriting. Its pages gather years of study, experience, mistakes, and successes. Today, having co-written a film selected by my country’s Film Academy to represent it at the 2025 Oscars and Goya Awards, I can confidently say that the concepts and steps I teach, will enable you to craft beautiful stories starting from a simple idea.
The process is very simple:
Don't you have the book yet?
¿Así que quieres escribir una película? (Spanish, 2026)
Imagine being able to turn your ideas into stories as powerful as those in your favorite movies. This book reveals the tools and know-how professionals use to create winning screenplays.
What will you learn from this book?
- The same tools Andy and many other writers use to craft stories—from Aristotle’s Poetics to Blake Snyder’s key concepts—explained simply and without technical jargon.
- Practical examples from successful films so you can see the theory in action.
- A step-by-step method: from the universal idea to the perfect dialogue, without getting lost along the way.
- Beginner mistakes that ruin scripts (and how to avoid them starting with the first draft).
- Exclusive bonuses: software recommendations, screenplay formatting guides, and writing exercises for when you have just 10 minutes a day.
Who is this book for?
- Aspiring writers looking to break into film.
- Independent filmmakers who need to structure their stories.
- Content creators seeking to master the art of compelling storytelling.
Ready to get started?
In this section, you will find two resources I have prepared for you.
The first item is the Caso de Estudio: La Suprema: a collection of materials where you will see the concepts and processes I teach in the book applied to a REAL film—one that premiered at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival and subsequently hit theaters in 2024. La Suprema is a beautiful film that enjoyed a successful run at festivals around the world. I had the honor and privilege of co-writing it with its director and great friend, Felipe H. Caro; in these files, you will find everything from the synopsis to the final shooting script. I hope you enjoy it and that it becomes a valuable part of your own writing process.

Movie Analysis eWorkbook
The second item I’ve prepared for you is an eWorkbook designed to help you apply the concepts I explain in the book. It allows you to analyze movies from a writer’s perspective: identifying the protagonist, discovering the inciting incident, recognizing plot points, finding the midpoint, analyzing the climax, and understanding how the story works as a whole.
The goal isn’t for you to memorize structures, but rather to learn how movies are constructed.
“Everything you dream of being, you already are.
Do you have a movie in your mind?
Create it! ”
